Glamorgan falls into several distinct regions: the industrial valleys, the
agricultural Vale of Glamorgan, and the scenic Gower Peninsula.
The county is bounded to the north by Brecknockshire, east by Monmouthshire,
south by the Bristol Channel, and west by Carmarthenshire and Carmarthen
Bay. The total population of the three
preserved counties of Glamorgan in 1991 was 1,288,309 Its highest point
is at Craig y Llyn (600 m).
The Vale of Glamorgan, a lowland area mainly comprising farmland and small
villages stretches across most of the south of the county from Porthcawl to
Cardiff. Further west, beyond Swansea, lies the Gower Peninsula, an Area of
Outstanding Natural Beauty
Barry is a town in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. Located along the northern
coast of the Bristol Channel less than 7 miles (11 kilometers) SSW of
Cardiff, the capital of Wales, Barry is a popular seaside resort, with
attractions including several beaches and the Barry Island Pleasure Park.
Once a small village, Barry has absorbed its larger neighbouring villages of
Cadoxton and Barry Island, which are now parishes within Barry.
Cowbridge is a market town in
the Vale of Glamorgan in South Wales. Cowbridge Museum is located in the
town hall, a building dating back perhaps as far as the Elizabethan era,
which served as a prison until 1830, when it was converted to replace the
former Guild Hall, demolished at that date. The main street contains a
number of Georgian houses, including the former town houses of important
local families such as the Edmondes and Carnes.

the Paddle Steamer Waverley and MV Balmoral, which have sailed from Penarth
pier for over 150 years.
Rhoose is a village located
near the sea (the Bristol Channel) in the Vale of Glamorgan, near Barry in
south Wales. It is home to Cardiff International Airport (originally known
as 'Rhoose Airport', then Glamorgan, 'Rhoose Airport'. Rhoose is one of the
fastest growing villages in the Vale of Glamorgan, with the two newest
developments being "The Hollies", and more recently, Rhoose Point. Rhoose
Point is the most southerly point of mainland Wales, Offering stunning views
over the channel to Somerset and beautiful coastal walks.
