Inverness,
the Capital of the Highlands, where you will find the warmest of
Scottish welcomes. Whether you visit, explore shop or just
relax, Inverness has something to offer everyone. There's plenty to
see and do in and around Inverness. Don't rush it, make sure you leave
lots of time or you will be disappointed! For a day in the city there
is the 'Victorian Market' offering a delightful selection of
independent local shops, or for the more commercial, there is the
Eastgate and Eastgate II Shopping Centres. Enjoy a circular walk along
the River Ness and through the Ness Islands, taking in St Andrews
Cathedral and Inverness Castle, now used as the local Courthouse.
Above the city is Craig Phadraig, a former stronghold of Pictish
Kings, and now offering beautiful forest walks. From here you have an
aerial view over The Black Isle and Moray Firth, home to approx 130
bottlenose dolphins, which can be seen from the shore or from one of
the trips that leave from Inverness Harbour. |

Inverness is an ideal base for
touring the Highlands. Take a trip down Loch Ness to look for the elusive 'Nessie'
or visit historical & cultural sites such as Culloden Battlefield, Clava
Cairns and the Caledonian Canal. You will also find a wide range of events
happening throughout the year, from Highland Games, Food Festival,
Agricultural Show and Inverness Military Tattoo to name a few, there is
always something to see and do in Inverness.
