Alloa is a small burgh in Clackmannanshire, 7 miles to the east of Stirling, on the north bank of the River Forth. The town was a burgh of barony, and at one time of considerable commercial importance. It has a population of 18,989

From 1975, Clackmannan was the name of a small town and local government district in the Central region of Scotland, corresponding to the traditional county of Clackmannanshire, which was Scotland's smallest. The town of Clackmannan, in which the 'Stone' - a prehistoric monolith of probable cultic significance in the Iron Age - remains, was the chief settlement of its area from the Middle Ages (if not earlier), until supplanted from the second half of the 18th century by the growing manufacturing town of Alloa, on the north shore of the Firth of Forth. The medieval castle of Clackmannan Tower (Historic Scotland) stands above the town and is a landmark visible for many miles around. Dating from the 14th century, though much altered, the Tower is at present not open to the public, having been rendered dangerous by subsidence due to coal-mining (view from exterior).

Coalsnaughton or Calibar is a village in Clackmannanshire. It is just south of Tillicoultry.

Dollar  is a small town in Clackmannanshire. It is one of the Hillfoots Villages, situated between the Ochil Hills range to the north and the Devon River to the south. Dollar is on the A91 road, which runs from Stirling to St. Andrews, and is around 3 miles east of Tillicoultry.

Menstrie is a village in the county of Clackmannanshire. It is about 5 miles (8 kilometres) east-north-east of Stirling. It is one of a string of towns that, because of their location at the base of the Ochil Hills, are collectively referred to as the Hillfoots Villages or simply The Hillfoots.

Tillicoultry is a village in Clackmannanshire. Its Gaelic name is sometimes anglicised into Tullich-cul-tir in Scots Gaelic - "The mount or hill at the back of the country") One of the Hillfoots Villages on the A91, which runs from Stirling to St. Andrews, Tillicoultry is situated at the southern base of the Ochil Hills, which provide a spectacular backdrop. The River Devon lies to the south. The river also runs through neighbouring villages Dollar and Alva to the east and west respectively. The former mining village of Coalsnaughton lies just south, whilst Alloa lies four miles south-west.
For brevity, Tillicoultry is often referred to as 'Tilly' by the locals.

Tullibody is a small town of approximately 8,500 residents, in Clackmannanshire . The nearest large towns are Alloa (2 miles) and Stirling (5 miles). Tullibody is a former mining town, although neither that industry nor any other major employers have a presence in the town, with many of the residents now commuting to Stirling and Alloa to work. Since the late 1990s and early 2000s, there has been a rapid expansion in house building in the town, with 400 new houses built on the north side of the village in the last 5 years. The town has 4 primary schools - St. Bernadette's, Abercromby, Banchory and St. Serf's - with young people also attending the local high schools including Lornshill Academy, St. Modans, Alloa Academy and Alva Academy.
