County Laois formerly also Laoighis or Leix, is a county in the midlands of
Ireland, forming part of the province of Leinster. The county is landlocked
and, uniquely amongst Irish counties it does not border any other counties
with a sea coast. It is therefore considered to be "the most landlocked
county in Ireland. The population of County Laois is expanding rapidly,
given its easy commute to the employment centres of Kildare and Dublin, and
affordable housing in pleasant surroundings. In the 2006 census the
population had increased by 14% to 67,000 people.
Abbeyleix is a town in County
Laois, Republic of Ireland about 14 km from Portlaoise. It is located on the
N8 National Primary Route.
Ballickmoyler is a small town in

Portarlington is a town in
County Laois (formerly Queen's County), straddling the border with County
Offaly (formerly King's County) in the midlands of Ireland. The town was
recorded in the census of 2006 as having a population of 7,092.
Rathdowney is a town in
southwest County Laois, Ireland. It lies some 32 km southwest of Portlaoise
in the Irish midlands, at the point where the R433 regional road from
Abbeyleix to Templemore is crossed by the R433 from Borris-in-Ossory to
Johnstown.
Stradbally is a small town in
County Laois, Ireland, located in the midlands of Ireland along the N80 road
near Portlaoise. The town's name comes from the Irish language, which means
a village, or "town of (one) street".
