Kildare is a town in County Kildare, Ireland. Its population of 7,538 (2006
Census makes it the seventh largest town in Kildare and the 55th largest in
the Republic of Ireland, with a growth rate of 32.4pc since the 2002 census.
Although it gives its name to the county, Kildare is not the county town,
that honour going instead to Naas. The town lies some 50 km west of Dublin,
near enough for it to have become, despite being a regional centre in its
own right, a commuter town for the capital.
Athy is a market town situated
at the convergence of the River Barrow and the Grand Canal in County
Kildare, Ireland, 72 kilometers southwest of Dublin. Its population of 7,943
(2006 Census makes it the sixth largest town in Kildare and the 50th largest
in the Republic of Ireland, with a growth rate of 31.3% since the 2002
census.
Ballymore Eustace is a town
in County Kildare in Ireland, near the border with County Wicklow, and was a
part of County Dublin until 1836. The town's name is sometimes abbreviated
(in everyday usage) to "Ballymore" - even though there are several other
towns in Ireland called Ballymore (from Irish: Baile Mór na nIústasach",
meaning "big town of Eustace").
Castledermot is an inland town in the south-east of Ireland in County
Kildare, about 75 km (47 mi) from Dublin, and 10 km (6 mi) from the town of
Carlow. The population of the town was 887 at the time of the (January 2006)
census, a 22% increase over the figure recorded in 2002. The town is growing
due to massive development and is fast becoming a satellite town of Dublin.
Celbridge is a town situated
on the River Liffey in County Kildare in Ireland. Located 22 kilometres (13
miles) from Dublin. Its population of 17,262 (2006 Census makes it the third
largest town in Kildare and the 22nd largest in the Republic of Ireland. As
a town within the Dublin Metropolitan Area and the Greater Dublin Area,
Celbridge has expanded dramatically in recent years - however most of the
towns services and amenities still centre around the single main street.
Leixlip is a town in
north-east County Kildare, Republic of Ireland, east of the midlands of
Ireland. It is situated on the confluence of the River Liffey and the River
Rye, on the border of the ancient kingdoms of Leinster and Brega. Its
population of 14,676 (2006 Census makes it the fourth largest town in
Kildare and the 26th largest in the Republic of Ireland, hosting both local
workers, and those commuting to Dublin, which is around 15km distant.
Maynooth is a town located in
north County Kildare, Ireland. It is located on the R148 road between
Leixlip and Kilcock, with the M4 motorway bypassing the town. Other roads
connect the town to Celbridge, Clane, and Dunboyne.
Monasterevin is a town in
County Kildare in the Ireland. The town lies on the River Barrow and the
Grand Canal. Its population of 3,017 (2006 Census[1]) makes it the 11th
largest town in Kildare and the 105th largest in the Republic of Ireland.
Monasterevin is known as "The Venice of Ireland". Situated 63 km from Dublin
on the R445 road, Monasterevin has been relieved of much through traffic by
the opening in 2004 of a new section of the M7 motorway bypassing the town
on the N7 Dublin to Limerick route.
Naas is the county town of
County Kildare, Ireland. It is a major commuter belt town, with many people
living in Naas and working in Dublin. The nearby M7 motorway, which bypasses
Naas and connects Dublin to the South and Southwest, is one of the busiest
routes in the country.
Newbridge is a town in County
Kildare, Republic of Ireland, near the midlands of Ireland. Its population
18,520 (2006 Census makes it the second largest town in Kildare and the 17th
largest in the Republic of Ireland.
Rathangan is a town in the
west of County Kildare in the Ireland. Rathangan is 65 km (40 mi) from the
centre of Dublin, and 14 km (9 mi) from Kildare Town. Its population of
1,718 (2006 Census makes it the 15th largest town in Co Kildare. It is
located at the intersection of the R401, R414 and R419 regional roads The
Slate River and the Grand Canal run through the town and over the years have
contributed to its success.
Straffan is a village in
County Kildare, Ireland situated on the banks of the River Liffey, 25 km
upstream of the Irish capital Dublin. With a population, according to the
census of 2006, of 439 – an increase since 2002 of 32.2% – Straffan is the
31st most populous centre in County Kildare. |
