Cavan is the main town in County Cavan in the Republic of Ireland. The town
lies in the north east of Ireland, along the border with Northern Ireland.
The N3 road connects the town to Dublin. There are about 30,000 people
living within a 10 mile radius of the town, so infrastructure is very
important.
Bailieborough is a small town
in County Cavan in the Ireland, where the R165, R191 and the R178 regional
roads meet. The town's amenities include a leisure centre, with a gym,
swimming pool, sauna and steam room, many playing pitches and local walks.
The area is well known and renowned for its lakes and forests.
Ballyconnell is a town
in County Cavan, Republic of Ireland. It is situated at the junction of four
townlands Annagh, Cullyleenan, Doon and Derryginny in the parish of
Tomregan, Barony of Tullyhaw. It lies astride the Shannon-Erne Waterway
which was opened in 1993, formerly known as the Woodford Canal which was
built in 1860. Prior to being canalised it was known as the River Grainne.
The town sits at the foot of Slieve Rushen mountain and is a mile from the
border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The population
in 2002 was 572.
Belturbet is a town in County Cavan, Ireland, located 14 km (9 mi) from
Cavan town 123 km (76 mi) from Dublin city. Belturbet lies on the (N3 road).
It is only 4 km (2 mi) from the border with Northern Ireland between the
counties of Cavan and Fermanagh and is 36 km (22 mi) south of Enniskillen.
Cootehill in County Cavan is

of the Coote family, Bellamont House, is an excellent example of a Palladian
style mansion.
Glangevlin is a town situated
in the northwest of County Cavan, Ireland. It's surrounded by the Cuilcagh
Mountains and borders the counties of Leitrim and Fermanagh.
Killeshandra is a town
located in County Cavan, Ireland at the crossroads of the R199 and R201
regional roads. In 1841 the town had a population of over 12,500 but today
it is less than 500.
Kingscourt is a busy market
town in County Cavan, Ireland. The town has a rich and varied history. Cabra
Castle, is a fine example of a Norman-style castle, and is located near the
town. Industry is very important to Kingscourt. The local Gypsum mines
provide employment for many in the town. More recently the expansion of the
building supplies company Kingspan has ensured employment for many more in
the town.
Mountnugent is a town in
southern County Cavan. It is located on the River Inny and Lough Sheelin.
Shercock is a small town situated in the east of County Cavan, Ireland. The
current population of the town is around 600 people with almost triple this
amount in the surrounding areas. Shercock has more pubs than any other type
of business. Shercock is located at the intersection of the R162 and R178
regional roads.
Virginia is a town of population 3,188 persons located in County
Cavan, Ireland. Situated pleasantly close to Lough Ramor, Virginia is on the
N3 route approximately 80 km from Dublin city, where once it was a strategic
staging and rest point for the coaches plying between Enniskillen and
Dublin. In more recent times, Virginia is connected to the capital by an
hourly bus service from Cavan town Bus Éireann. |
