West Yorkshire is a
metropolitan county within the Yorkshire and the Humber region of
England, that has a population of 2.1 million. West Yorkshire came into
existence as a metropolitan county in 1974 after the passage of the
Local Government Act 1972.West Yorkshire, which is landlocked, consists
of five metropolitan boroughs (City of Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees,
City of Leeds and City of Wakefield) and shares borders with the
counties of Derbyshire (to the south), Greater Manchester (to the
south-west), Lancashire (to the north-west), North Yorkshire (to the
north and east) and South Yorkshire (to the south-east).
Bradford is a city in
West Yorkshire. Together with neighbouring towns and villages, Bradford
forms the metropolitan district of the City of Bradford. The city is the
location of the most visited museum outside London - the National Media
Museum, previously called the National Museum of Photography, Film &
Television, which has three cinemas including a gigantic Imax screen.
Bradford's main art gallery is housed in the grand Edwardian Cartwright
Hall in Lister Park. Salt's Mill has the world's largest collection of
David Hockney artworks.
Bingley is a town in the City of Bradford Metropolitan District, West
Yorkshire, England, five miles north west of Bradford. It is split into
two wards within the City of Bradford: Bingley (estimated population in
2001 was 15,925) and Bingley Rural (estimated population in 2001 was
16,649). Both wards were significantly expanded during the 2004 boundary
change so previous population estimates were considerably smaller.

Haworth is a village and
tourist attraction, in the English county of West Yorkshire, best known
for its association with the Brontė sisters. With its situation above
the Worth Valley amid the bleak Pennine moors, Haworth is
internationally famous for its connection with the Brontė sisters, who
were born in Thornton, Bradford, but wrote most of their famous novels
while living at the Haworth Parsonage (which is now a museum owned and
maintained by the Brontė Society), when their father was the parson at
the adjacent Haworth church. Haworth is a very popular destination for

Holmfirth is a small town located on the A6024 Woodhead Road in the
Holme Valley , in the Kirklees district of West Yorkshire. Centered upon
the confluence of the River Holme and the River Ribble, Holmfirth is
three miles (4.8 km) south of Huddersfield, and broadly consists of
stone-built cottages nestled in the Pennine hills.
The Peak District National Park around Holme Moss borders the south of
the town. The Holme and Ribble feed from the Holme Styes Reservoir at
Cartworth Moor, just off the road to Dunford Bridge.

Keighley is a town and
civil parish in the county of West Yorkshire, northwest of Bradford, at
the confluence of the River Aire and the River Worth. The town has a

part of the Brontė Country.

estimate). Leeds is one of England's core cities.

Liversedge lies between Cleckheaton and Heckmondwike about 14 miles to
the south west of Leeds.
Pontefract is a town in
the county of West Yorkshire, near the A1 (or Great North Road), the M62
motorway, and Castleford. It is one of the five towns in the borough of
Wakefield and has a population of approximately 30,000.
Shipley is a town in West
Yorkshire, by the River Aire and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, north of
Bradford and north-west of Leeds. It is within the City and Metropolitan
Borough of Bradford but is generally considered to be outside Bradford
itself.
Wakefield is a city by
the River Calder, in the City of Wakefield metropolitan borough of West
Yorkshire. Its population was 76,886 in 2001. Wakefield city-centre is
host to a small art gallery and a museum. Both the National Coal Mining
Museum for England (an Anchor Point of ERIH, The European Route of
Industrial Heritage) and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, one of Europe's
foremost sculpture parks, are situated nearby. The Wakefield Theatre
Royal hosts a variety of performing arts. A Barbara Hepworth gallery is
being built as part of the rejuvenation of the city centre's waterfront.
Wetherby is a market town
in the county of West Yorkshire, England and is part of the City of
Leeds metropolitan district. It stands on the River Wharfe, and has been
for centuries a crossing place and staging post on the Great North Road,
being mid-way between London and Edinburgh. Wetherby Bridge, which spans
the River Wharfe, is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and a Grade II listed
